Beautylish 2018 Lucky Bag || Is it WORTH it?

Gambling for Makeup Addicts? Alright then!
Every year, after Christmas, the beauty community has always gone little nuts over the Beautylish's annual Luckybag, which is very similar to the lucky dip that you might have had as a young child, only this is made for the serious makeup lover!
A Lucky Bag is a Japanese new year tradition that Beautylish has taken on board to create their own version with products they sell on their own website with brands such as IT Cosmetics, Becca Cosmetics, Charlotte Tilbury, Natasha Denon, Jouer, RCMA, and the list goes on and on.
They have two bags to choose from, the XL bags are $150USD ($188.41AUD) and have a guaranteed value over $350USD ($439.62AUD), while the regular Lucky Bags are $75USD ($94.25AUD) and have a guaranteed value over $150USD ($188.41AUD). And, let me just say, either one is a pretty damn good, lucky bag if you ask me!! However, this is NOT for you, if you fear that you'll hate all the products or don't like surprises, walk away now, my friend! HOWEVER, if you like a bit of a beauty product thrill and appreciate the anticipation and wonderment of not knowing what you're gonna get, then let's talk some more, shall we!

I was pretty lucky (ha!) at scoring the regular sized Lucky Bag. I had actually forgotten all about it and then, had just randomly come across it on Beautylish. I thought to myself, it must be a message from the beauty gods to remind me about it, so, I thought, 'Why not!' After looking at all the good reviews in the past year, I was convinced and, in a stroke of good luck( ha!) ordered one of the very last bags!

The bundle of beautilicious was finally delivered to my house in the middle of January (today, in fact!) and my excitement and expectations arose in equal quantities!! My mind was consumed with thoughts of what fabulous products awaited me...

I opened up the parcel revealing ...

I was very surprised and, can I say, quite delighted, to see this palette sitting in the exquisitely packaged box. I've heard so many great things about it from well-known makeup artists and knew that it was an expensive item. I was not disappointed with the quality! The pigments are just stunning, and, as I don't own an all matte eyeshadow palette, I was pretty chuffed at receiving this beauty!

To be completely honest with you, I was a bit underwhelmed receiving a makeup bag, only because, as an artist, I have many makeup bags already but, it is a really cute little thing!  Alas, I had long held out hope for a product such as a lipstick or a palette by Charlotte Tilbury, so a bag was a bit of a downer. Still grateful though!!

INDIE LEE COQ-10 TONER - $32USD ($40.19AUD)
I don't usually use toners in my skincare routine, but I did find it interesting that the Indie Lee product was an alcohol-free, skin balancing toner that focuses on balancing the skin's pH levels using ingredients including aloe vera and hyaluronic acid.

WAYNE GOSS FAN BRUSH in 15 - $25USD ($31.40AUD)
I was really hoping to receive a brush by Wayne Goss and, I'm so glad I did! The brush feels incredibly soft and sturdy. I've heard so much positive feedback about Wayne Goss's brushes and, now I can finally say that I own one in my brush collection! Happy! Happy!

Once again, another item I'm happy to have received in my box of goodies! Jouer is a very hard brand to purchase in Australia (manufactured in the US, Canada and Europe) and is touted by its owner to be good for the skin as well. I first heard about the brand via Chloe Morello and have always been curious to try. The lip topper swatches beautifully on the back of my hand and I can already tell it will look pretty either by itself or on top of another colour.

I, SO, SO badly wanted to love this, really wanting to try a Natasha Denona product but, sadly, this shade isn't suitable for my skin tone, as I'm quite fair. Judging by the reviews on Beautylish, it gives a lovely glow. Maybe, I can do a swap with someone else in the community or use it my freelance makeup kit.

Last, but not least, if you have read my previous post about The Ordinary Coverage foundation, then you would already know that I have this primer. While I do like this product, as it gives a smooth and soft-touch appearance to the skin, I will be sharing the joy and giving this one away to a friend.

And, that is it!   My $75USD($94.25AUD) Lucky Bag came in at a total retail dollar worth of $215.90USD ($271.16AUD) which I think is great value!  Yes, there are a few products that I received which I would have preferred to be different, but the Viseart palette really made up for it!

If you're not afraid to take a gamble and, you're a makeup junkie or, even just starting out in makeup, then yes, I do think this is worth the money, just a bit risky! Next year, I'm going to try attempt ordering the XL Lucky Bag! Limited edition anything is always a challenge to come by, but you've got to have a go, I say!  Comment below if you received a LuckyBag this year, I would love to know YOUR thoughts on it, let's chat!

Until next time,

I think you got some really good products in your lucky bag! Well worth the money x

    1. Definitely worth the money! Can't wait to try the next lucky bag and try my luck again!

  2. Wow you got some amazing products! I have seen a few now and it's definitely a mixed bag but you got lucky for sure :) x

  3. Your bag looks amazing! That palette! The make up bag is definitely a bit disappointing... I was pretty happy with mine, though after seeing what other people got, and the value of their bags I was a bit disappointed. Most people had bags valued over $200US and I think from memory mine was about $150 :/ but I guess that’s what you get with mystery though!

  4. I prefer your bag over mine but definitely some bits in there I still wouldn't be happy with!
