A brand like, The Balm, is not often talked about in Australia ...that is until one day, popular YouTuber Jaclyn Hill raved about their highlighter, Mary Lou Manizer Illuminator and then it just completely blew up worldwide! So, with the help of RY (Recreate Yourself), I investigated, trialled some products from this brand and discovered a whole lot of amazing beauty essentials!
Here it is...The BEST of The Balm.
The Balm is a American owned cosmetics company and what makes them different that they strongly focus on their philosophy, "beauty in 5 minutes" and believe in the multi-use of their products, which is why, for example, you'll see a lot of their labels promoting their use on the eyes or cheeks, or both! Another amazing perk to the brand is that all the products are animal cruelty free, paraben free and the eye shadows and blushes are even talc free. The company's sense of fun is really evident in their gorgeously, arty packaging, so cute and quirky with a 1950's/60's theme!
MARY LOU MANIZER $29.95AU
Of course, I have to start off the list with the infamous Mary Lou Manizer Illuminator. I remember that sweet day when I stumbled across it (keep in mind, I didn't have high hopes at the time of finding it because it was literally sold out everywhere) and there it was at Target, the LAST Mary Lou Manizer sitting on the shelf. It was obviously meant to be, meant to be for me! This was my first The Balm purchase.
The hype is very real when it comes to this highlighter. It has a stunning pale gold shimmer, it applies beautifully on the skin and can be built up to be a very intense highlight, so a little bit goes a long way! I love to use this on my models in photoshoots. Aways stunning results!
Anyone that knows me, knows that I LOVE liquid lipsticks and I wear them all the time. So I just had to try out The Balm version of liquid lipsticks and see how they performed. I was really pleasantly surprised by the formula and how well the colour held up. They were quite long wearing and when they did eventually fade, they did so quite nicely and not at all patchy. The pigmentation was great too.
I was able to get a very even and light-weight layer to obtain the desired result. The scent of these little beauties, reminds me of Mint Chocolate Chip ice cream.
I would happily buy the full size lipsticks, when I run out of these mini lipsticks.
Bahama Mama Bronzer $27.95AU
I first heard about this product when Shani Grimmond raved about it in her Youtube videos and said how much she loved it and it was one of her fave bronzers to use. Bahama Mama is a finely milled matte bronzer with no orange undertones (yay!) and it blends like a dream! As a pale girl, I love using this product to bring warmth to my face and it gives me the look of lovely sun kissed skin. Most of their bronzers and blushes have a magnetic closing and comes with a mirror which is so handy for when you're on the go! It's a yes, yes, yes from me!
TIP: I also love to use this on the eyes, it makes a lovely brown transition colour or lid colour.
FratBoy Blush $27.95AU
Oh boy, oh boy! I LOVE this blush! I have been using this everyday since I got it. It is a beautiful apricot, peachy -pink shade and it has SO much pigment, which is such a bonus. The pan size is very generous (8.5g to be exact) and it endowed me with a radiant healthy flush to my face. I can understand now, why The Balm is known for their blushes, it does not disappoint!
Meet Matt(e) Nude Eyeshadow Palette $39.95AU
The last item I want to talk about, is their eyeshadow palettes. They have quite a few eyeshadow palettes in the range (Meet Matt(e) Ador/Trimony, Nude Tude, Nude Dude, etc). The Meet Matt(e) eyeshadow palette pans are very large (they hold about 3g per shadow). The formula is smooth, silky and long wearing, which is rare for a matte eyeshadow and best of all, they don't crease on me. These eyeshadows can also be worn wet or dry. If you're a matte shadow lover or want to get into matte eyeshadows, this is perfect for you! I can't wait to rush out and pick up the Trimony palette which has warmer shades to try.
And, that is the end of my "Best of The Balm 2017" post. I genuinely love and will continue to use these products.
