First Impressions on LUSH Vegan Hair Products?!

A lot of my close family and friends knows how much I love LUSH, I usually have a basket full of LUSH bath bombs, bubble bars, lip balms stacked away in the corner of my room waiting to be used. So you could imagine my excitement when I received an email to try a few products from their newest hair line! UM ...YES PLEASE!

I was generously sent a package made for Dry Hair and it was comprised of four products, Damaged Hot Oil Treatment, Avocado Co-Wash, Queen Bee Hair Honey and Sunny Day Anti-Static Hair Detangler. Today, I will be doing my first impressions on three of their products!

"Replenished your hair with vanilla and avocado, there's no need to take the rough with the smooth"

To start off my first LUSH Hair experience, I started with the damaged Hot Oil Treatment. This product is very popular . mainly due to Kylie Jenner using and, talking about it in her snap chats recently and the product went crazy popular! The treatment has a very subtle scent of vanilla which is quite nice!

I followed  the treatment according to the instructions, which I will list below.

1. Place your treatment into a suitable container (I used a small saucepan) and pop the kettle on.
2. Slowly add a small amount of hot water to the solid treatment - and begin to stir gently. Take your time, adding water as needed, allowing the product to thicken slowly until  you are left with an empty stick and rich creamy treatment (this can take around 5 minutes).

3. Apply to dry hair and leave for around 20 minutes before shampooing, to allow the ingredients to get to work, hydrating and replenishing your crowning glory.

This product is definitely not for someone that is impatient. You need to be patient for it to allow to work (took me about half hour till it was all done!), so while I was waiting, I relaxed with a mag and a nice cup of herbal tea!

When it had finally worked its magic, I just washed it off in the shower and I definitely felt an improvement because as I was washing it, I did notice that my hair did, indeed, feel soft. Continuing on to the next product. Shampoo!

"This fresh avocado, extra virgin olive oil and cider vinegar co-wash (also known as conditioner washing) is the real headliner. It gently cleanses without stripping the hair of its naturally protective oils."

The recommended instructions were to slip a piece of the co-wash directly over the hair and massage in to distribute evenly then wash off for silky ,hydrated hair. So I did just that! I didn't mind the scent, I personally thought it was quite a fresh fragrance. The scent was sweet and fruity bergamot oil. However, I did find it difficult to rinse off, I spent quite a while trying to wash the shampoo out of my hair. I didn't use any conditioner, as I wanted to see if the conditioning shampoo stood up to the test.

All washed and ready to blow dry!

"If frizzy hair weather strikes, kick static to the kerb with this sunny violet spray"

I then sprayed the anti-static hair detangler into my hair and I was immediately greeted by the smell of violets, if you love the smell of violets and have frizzy hair, then this is the one for you!
As I was blow drying my hair, I did notice a decrease in frizziness. My hair goes usually go a bit naturally frizzy after blow drying, but using this product definitely helped tamed it a little. I didn't mind it, though, I'm personally not a big fan of the scent of violets,

Now I've completed the whole process, I don't think the avocado co-wash is for me. After I blow-dried my hair, I was left with greasy hair and it looked like my hair had dandruff. I still prefer a liquid shampoo compared to a soap shampoo and I also think, ultimately, it would be less time consuming. I am a bit disappointed by this product, after hearing so many positive reviews about it but it simply  just did not work for me. It may work well on another person, but today, sadly, not for me.

I'd like to give the hot oil treatment another trial, without using the avocado co-wash because I did feel a difference in my hair as I was washing it out, so I will try that again and see how I go!

I hope you enjoyed reading (and appreciate) my honest thoughts on the products. I still very much love LUSH's bath products, I think they are beautiful!

Have you tried a LUSH hair product before? Do you have a favourite? Be sure to let me know in the comments!

Until next time gals,

  1. Ohhh, I do like the sound of the oil treatment. A little bit fiddly, but if it works I can push myself to use it.

    Great honest review, Kelsey!

  2. I have actually never really looked at Lush's hair care range. I think I might have to try out the hot oil treatment though. Great post :)
