FIRST IMPRESSIONS - The Ordinary Coverage Foundation

This post had to be one of the most highly requested posts ever! So here it is .... my first impressions on the very hyped up brand, 'The Ordinary' - Coverage Foundation.
The Coverage Foundation retails for $12.90AUD and I ordered from DECIEM | The Abnormal Beauty Company website (I also purchased High Adherence Silicone Primer, if you would like to see a review on that, just let me know!). I was a bit worried about selecting a shade, as it is a risky thing to pick a shade online, but Wayne Goss has generously shared his MAC Shade Reference guide (below list), so you can roughly find the right shade for you.

I chose the shade 1.0P, as I'm NW10 in MAC foundations and I'm happy to report, it was a pretty close match. The delivery took about two and a bit weeks, which was understandable as the site pre-warned that it might take up to 10 days before they could ship the product due to high demand.
Now, let's see what 'The Ordinary' says about their Full Coverage foundation.
The ORDINARY - "The Ordinary Coverage Foundations are full-coverage formulations available in a comprehensive shade range across 21 shades. These foundations contain higher pigment levels than our Serum Foundations but still offer a smooth finish that avoids the heavy makeup look that can make skin appear more aged. The texture is that of a lightweight, non-oily cream. The pigments used in these formulations are treated for a rich, highly-saturated effect. These pigments are suspended in our proprietary spreadability system that allows pigments to look natural on the skin, resist collecting within fine lines and stay on for longer. The foundations offer a semi-matte finish and are compatible with most primers and designed to work exceptionally well with the primers offering from The Ordinary"

The foundation contains 30ml of product, which I am a little suspicious about because when I received it in the mail, the bottle was definitely not full (see below photo). I find it hard to believe I had 30ml worth in my bottle, however, it could just be my bottle!

Rough iPhone photo. This was before I even used the foundation for the first time.

Now, my first impressions and thoughts on the product itself!
NOTE: I applied the foundation with a Beauty Blender and I used the Ordinary High Adherence Silicone Primer.

- It's $12.90!
Need I say more?

- They have changed the dropper to a pump instead
I like the idea of a pump much more, application mess free!

- The foundation has a satin finish
I'm a big fan of the finish. I like the way it sits on the skin and it is pleasantly velvety to the touch.

- Medium Coverage
As a girl that uses Estee Lauder Double Wear foundation (that stuff is FULL coverage), I wouldn't describe this as full coverage. I can get medium coverage after two light layers. It does cover the redness and uneven skin tone really nicely though.

- Lightweight formula

- Cracking
I did notice after a few hours (roughly 4 hours), it did start to crack around some breakouts on my chin. This may be due to the choice of setting powder I used (Australis Fresh & Flawless).

- Long Lasting
Other than the cracking around my breakouts, it seems to wear off really nicely in a gradual way on the rest of my face and I could get a good 7 hours out of it.

- I don't recommend this for dry skin
If you have quite parched skin, I wouldn't recommend this one for you, this sinks in the dry patches and accentuates them more. The Serum Foundation may be a better option for you, although I haven't yet tried this one.

These are my personal thoughts on the product so far. I don't know if I love it, but I certainly don't hate it! I will definitely keep playing around with it, using a different powder or primer and see if it makes a difference with the cracking. I love the fact that it is super affordable, so even if I did hate it, at least I'm not mad at wasting an exorbitant amount of money!

I made another order (the time on Adore Beauty) and purchased some of 'The Ordinary' skincare goodies! So just let me know if you would like to hear about my thoughts on them too!
Have you tried the Serum or Coverage foundation? What did you think of it? Let's talk in the comments.

Until next time lovelies!

The Best of The Balm 2017

A brand like, The Balm, is not often talked about in Australia ...that is until one day, popular YouTuber Jaclyn Hill raved about their highlighter, Mary Lou Manizer Illuminator and then it just completely blew up worldwide! So, with the help of RY (Recreate Yourself), I investigated, trialled some products from this brand and discovered a whole lot of amazing beauty essentials!
Here it is...The BEST of The Balm.

The Balm is a American owned cosmetics company and what makes them different that they strongly focus on their philosophy, "beauty in 5 minutes" and believe in the multi-use of their products, which is why, for example, you'll see a lot of their labels promoting their use on the eyes or cheeks, or both! Another amazing perk to the brand is that all the products are animal cruelty free, paraben free and the eye shadows and blushes are even talc free. The company's sense of fun is really evident in their gorgeously, arty packaging, so cute and quirky with a 1950's/60's theme!

101 Brush Cleaning Tips

If you're anything like me and, a makeup fanatic, then you probably own a lot of makeup brushes. This also probably means, that you seriously dread it when the time comes to deep clean your dirty brushes. Well, the cold hard truth is... you just gotta do it! Dirty brushes means ,that there is more of a chance for bacteria to fester (and make a snuggly home on them!) which also spells more breakouts,  clogged pores and extremely irritated skin( and who wants that?!)
Fun fact for you all, 61% of women who use makeup brushes clean them less than once a month or NOT AT ALL...EEEKK!! Yes, some ladies are unaware that they are supposed to clean their makeup brushes or some buy new ones or some just don't know how to clean them correctly. That's where I come in! Here's some of my best tips on how to clean your makeup brushes and, yes, it really is super easy!

Ideally, you're supposed to wash your personal facial makeup brushes (foundation brush, powder brush, etc) daily, yep, DAILY! But I would be lying if I told you that I did that for myself, after all, who has that sort of time in the rush of a busy weekday schedule?! In more realistic terms, I do, however, try to deep clean my personal brushes at least once a week, sometimes over two weeks if I'm rushed off my feet and I'm being super honest.

Here are two very easy ways of cleaning!

It sounds so strange to say welcome to my first post of 2017! I cannot believe we have arrived at another year already, it honestly feels like time is whizzing past!

Now let's be real... we can't make a pimple disappear overnight, we all wish we could, but truth is, we just...simply... can't! BUT... you can reduce the size of a pimple overnight and these are some of my favorite products to do so.

My TOP Six October Faves!

Oh dear is it seriously almost the end of the year already?! That is 6 more weeks (46 days if you want to be specific!) until it's Christmas ... holy crap! Anyway, moving on! I noticed that my last monthly favorites post was proven to be quite popular so I decided to do another one for you with my top six October 2016 faves! I also switched up my photography and tried different positions in styling, so let me know what you think of the results!

 Shall we start?!

First Impressions on LUSH Vegan Hair Products?!

A lot of my close family and friends knows how much I love LUSH, I usually have a basket full of LUSH bath bombs, bubble bars, lip balms stacked away in the corner of my room waiting to be used. So you could imagine my excitement when I received an email to try a few products from their newest hair line! UM ...YES PLEASE!

I was generously sent a package made for Dry Hair and it was comprised of four products, Damaged Hot Oil Treatment, Avocado Co-Wash, Queen Bee Hair Honey and Sunny Day Anti-Static Hair Detangler. Today, I will be doing my first impressions on three of their products!

Review: L'Oreal True Match in 'Ivory Rose'

So! If you're like me, fair skinned, then you would know how hard it is to find a drugstore product that caters to people that have light to very fair skin. Extremely hard... especially in Australia! A lot of the brands seem to think that everyone in Australia is super tanned as! No... that is not the case at all, we fair girls are here too!

So, naturally, I gave up all hopes trying to find my shade in Priceline or in Chemists and kept buying a high-end foundation that actually matched me, which in the long run, is pretty damn expensive! Thankfully one day, I received a package in the mail and there it was, the perfect
